Year 4: Nuclear physics; solid state physics 2; dissertation and project; and 6 courses chosen from: medical uses of ionising radiation; electronics of measurement systems; energy and the environment; thin films and interfaces; general relativity and cosmology; fluid mechanics; nuclear magnetic resonance, acoustics and their applications; quantum electronics; high energy physics; low temperature physics; many-body theory; relativistic quantum mechanics and gauge theories; independent study module; medical optics, speech and hearing; device physics; physics of semiconductors and their heterostructures.
