Acquiring a high standard of oral and written fluency is central to all levels of the course; at level 1 the programme introduces students to French society and culture from the medieval period to the present day, including film studies, and to modern French history and institutions; further specialist options in these areas are taught at level 2; at level 3 students spend the whole year in France, usually either as a language assistant in a school or studying at university; places are also available at the University of London Institute in Paris in association with the renowned Institut d'Etudes Politiques. Philosophy: The programme offers a range of courses taught by researchers who are experts in their fields; students develop their understanding of the key areas of philosophy such as ethics, philosophy of mind, theory of knowledge, political philosophy, metaphysics and logic through the course of their 3 years; there are also courses on major figures in the history of philosophy such as Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Hegel and others.

Расположение

Четвертый крупнейший город Англии известен своей дружелюбной атмосферой, идеальной для общественной студенческой жизни и развлечений. Шеффилд, со 150 лесонасаждениями и 50 парками является самым «зеленым» городом в Англии.

Университет находится в центре Великобритании, всего в 11 км от национального парка Скалистый край и в двух с половиной часах езды на поезде до Лондона.

Через город Шеффилд проходят автомобильные и железнодорожные магистрали страны. В самом городе отлично функционирует транспортная система. Университетский кампус находится в западной части центра города и до него легко добраться на машине, автобусе или трамвае.
