The aim of this programme is to give students an in-depth understanding of politics and political issues, supported by a range of personal transferable skills, including communication and presentation skills, working in groups, writing reports and essays, gathering information and planning projects; teaching and research cover a range of topics, including political behaviour, public policy, political theory and international/comparative politics; the geographical areas covered include Europe (Central, Southern and Eastern Europe and the European Union), the Americas, Asia and Africa.East Asian StudiesThe East Asian Studies side of the degree covers modern China, Japan and Korea, providing a unique perspective of one of the economically most important regions of the world in the 21st century; lecture modules include both comparative modules (covering all three countries) and country specific modules; modules take a contemporary social science perspective, and include various topics, including modern history, society, business, economics, population and environment, identity, and linguistics; there are also modules in East Asian languages available.
