This course responds to the emerging culture of enterprise in industry and aims to produce not only high calibre mechanical engineers, but also potential entrepreneurs, with strategic vision, leadership and innovation qualities; throughout the 4 years of the course students study industrial management alongside mechanical engineering; during the first 2 1/2 years students follow a core syllabus aimed at developing the essential skills and knowledge in the fundamentals of mechanical engineering, industrial management and mathematics required of a professional mechanical engineer; these are pulled together through laboratory sessions, design projects, group work and tutorials. A special feature of the course is that during the final 1 1/2 years students can choose from a wide range of advanced modules, in addition to further industrial management modules; this enables them to follow the areas of your interest and to prepare for your initial career; in year 3 there is a group industrial management project and during year 4 students undertake a major industrial management related individual project.

Расположение

Четвертый крупнейший город Англии известен своей дружелюбной атмосферой, идеальной для общественной студенческой жизни и развлечений. Шеффилд, со 150 лесонасаждениями и 50 парками является самым «зеленым» городом в Англии.

Университет находится в центре Великобритании, всего в 11 км от национального парка Скалистый край и в двух с половиной часах езды на поезде до Лондона.

Через город Шеффилд проходят автомобильные и железнодорожные магистрали страны. В самом городе отлично функционирует транспортная система. Университетский кампус находится в западной части центра города и до него легко добраться на машине, автобусе или трамвае.
