Университет Винчестера, DipHE, Education Studies (Early Childhood) and Choreography and Dance Studies

This is a joint Honours programme which allows the student to study 2 subjects in equal proportions; education studies (early childhood) offers in-depth study of educational processes and practices and specialises in analysing how themes including gender, race, citizenship, representation and power apply to education of the young child both in schools and in the wider culture; in addition, the student tailors the content by choosing from a range of optional modules employing specific critical approaches to the study of early childhood, including the philosophical, sociological and psychoanalytic; the choreography and dance studies programme offers opportunities for the student to engage in a wide range of learning situations which develop and enhance understanding of dance, choreography and the role of dance in the modern world; the programme is highly practical and the student creates their own works, exploring and experimenting with choreographic tools as well as studying theories of movement along with social and cultural aspects of dance; they also learn to look at dance and articulate verbally on what they see with clarity and confidence.
