Level 1: Students have an opportunity to study subjects such as biological sciences, psychological and social sciences, health, illness and disability and occupational therapy practice. Level 2: Focus is on applied theory and occupational therapy skills within the physical and psychosocial domains, together with practical and experiential learning; there is an emphasis on communication skills, research, information technology and occupational therapy specific techniques and approaches. Level 3: Students extend their particular interests through completion of a special study using research and inquiry techniques; students also have further in-depth preparation for careers and work opportunities; at levels 2 and 3 there are also opportunities for clinical experiences abroad in places such as Norway, India and South Africa.

The programme includes a minimum of 1000 hours of professional practice during which students work alongside, and learn from, experienced occupational therapists; while on placement, students have the opportunity for direct contact with patients and clients and are expected to take increasing amounts of responsibility under the direction of qualified staff.
