Part 1: Reading law: explores different styles of legal rules and considers methods for evaluating, understanding and critiquing legal rules; students are also be introduced to reading legislation and case noting; part 2: legal reasoning: students consider the interpretation and application of legal texts and legal argument; they learn to read and interpret legal texts, such as law cases and legislation; this understanding is then applied to engage in competent argument construction and critique of the traditional legal reasoning process; part 3: introduction to European law/presentation skills: examines the relationship between European and English law; in addition students are introduced to the idea of clinical legal education; part 4: exploring law: takes a practical approach to law; this may include information technology skills, English language skills, reflective diaries and exploration of a limited number of substantive areas of law (for example criminal law, international sports law, law and film).
