The course leads to chartered status with the British Psychological Society; it integrates psychological theory and research with insights derived from personal inquiry and development incorporating both scientist-practitioner and reflective-practitioner perspectives; the training provides professional, clinical and academic competencies associated with the practice of counselling psychology; the course develop trainees' clinical competencies in cognitive-behaviour therapy and gives them a working knowledge of the psychodynamic approach; trainees develop high quality research skills in conducting and evaluating research and how to apply those skills in understanding and evaluating clinical practice.
