High school graduate. SAT and two SAT Subject Tests or ACT with Writing. We dont have minimun scores for SAT or ACT. Median scores of accepted students: SAT Verbal/Critical Reading: 680-790; SAT Math: 700-800; SAT Writing:700-790; ACT Composite: 31-35. We recommend but do not require the TOEFL or the IELTS. A minimum score of 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT)—or 250 on the computer-based TOEFL (CBT) or 600 on the paper-based TOEFL (PBT) is expected for all applicants to Duke. While not required for admission, interviews provide an opportunity for the applicant to learn about Duke and for a representative of the university to learn about the applicant's strengths. We have alumni volunteers conducting interviews in forty-two countries worldwide.
The B.S. degree is designed for students interested in a scientific perspective on environmental issues. The major is designed to encourage breadth in the physical and life sciences and depth in a chosen area of scientific concentration, such as such as marine ecosystems, toxicology, hydrology and chemical cycling, or climate change. The A.B. degree in Earth and Ocean Sciences is designed as a flexible major for those students interested in the Earth, its atmosphere and the oceans. The major is intended to provide a general knowledge of the processes that shape and control the environment in which we live.
