Students follow the same programme as other primary PGCE students, but with slight timetable modifications to allow them to study aspects of primary modern foreign languages (MFL) teaching; students teach across the curriculum in 2 consecutive age phases in primary school, with primary Spanish as an additional subject, gaining confidence and competence to teach a modern foreign language throughout the primary age range, while qualifying (as for the mainstream PGCE) as a generalist primary class teacher; as part of the UK school placements, students teach Spanish alongside all other curriculum areas; between the 2 major UK placements, students undertake an additional (non-assessed) 4-week placement in a Spanish school with a link to an Spanish university.
