The course is designed to cover general principles of research methodology; a range of modules underpins the development of individual research projects and introduces specialist analytical techniques; participants explore specialist areas including teaching and learning; academic writing; or issues relating to the business and management environments in which research is used; the course is taught by a cross-faculty team experienced in interdisciplinary research, applied research, action research and theory/practice development, as well as by specialists from academic disciplines; the generic element is delivered in a workshop format, whilst the advanced and specialist elements reflect the distinctive culture of the respective subject areas; students learn to utilise research skills effectively both in an academic context and in the research and development areas of commercial organisations.
