This is a major/minor programme which allows the student to focus 2/3 of their time on 1 subject whilst the other 1/3 is spent studying units from a different subject area; the special educational needs (SEN) course prepares the student to work with children with special educational needs (SEN) across all age ranges and in a variety of settings; it provides the opportunity to explore the context in which children are defined, diagnosed and labelled as having special educational needs (SEN); the student may also consider the challenging concepts of equal opportunity, inclusion, children's rights, working in partnership and a holistic understanding of childhood; the public health course looks to examine subjects which impact on the quality of health; the programme seeks to recognise the importance of creating supporting social, physical and cultural environments for health.
