The Scandinavian languages have a rich literature ranging from the Middle Ages to the modern period; for the linguist they offer a fascinating field for comparative study between themselves and with other Germanic languages; politics deals with the origins and present-day contexts of these issues; students examine institutions and processes of governance at various levels, from the local to the international, and relationships between nations, states, sexes, classes and ethnic groups; students also look at the morality of political action, the boundaries of freedom and the limits of justice.
