Вступительные требования
When applying for a place to study at universities in the state of Baden-Württemberg you have to take an orientation test. Applicants with higher education entrance qualification from abroad:
•general or subject-specific German higher education entrance qualification
•school graduation that permits higher education entrance in the home country and is recognised as equal to the German higher education entrance qualification or
•assessment test (Studienkolleg (preparatory course)). German language skills: DSH 1 or TestDaF 3. Study is conducted in German and English.

The science of mathematics is divided into the two major areas of pure mathematics and applied mathematics. The main areas of pure mathematics include algebra, analysis, geometry, topology and number theory, while applied mathematics includes numerics, optimisation and stochastics. These areas are oriented around the main research fields (in German) in the department. In pure mathematics you will be concerned with abstract structures and their internal relationships. The aim here is to derive the greatest possible variety of statements from a few assumptions.
