Course includes a major project, modules common to all courses, and specialist modules.Levels 1 and 2: All students follow the same course; students have no need to decide between a BEng or MEng until the end of level 2, when they have enough knowledge and experience to make an informed decision; this choice need not be the degree option or specialisation which was originally registered; the scheme gives level 2 students the chance to work on real industrial problems. Level 3: builds on students knowledge and applies it to engineering problems; students carry out a major project in direct collaboration with an academic supervisor from one of the department's research groups; this stage extends experience, with an emphasis on individual project work, in the chosen specialisation. Level 4: students take modules which increase their knowledge of their chosen area, and optional modules which maintain breadth of understanding; the degree combines elements of networks, system design, digital and analogue electronics, software, signal processing, and physical technologies.

Четвертый крупнейший город Англии известен своей дружелюбной атмосферой, идеальной для общественной студенческой жизни и развлечений. Шеффилд, со 150 лесонасаждениями и 50 парками является самым «зеленым» городом в Англии.

Университет находится в центре Великобритании, всего в 11 км от национального парка Скалистый край и в двух с половиной часах езды на поезде до Лондона.

Через город Шеффилд проходят автомобильные и железнодорожные магистрали страны. В самом городе отлично функционирует транспортная система. Университетский кампус находится в западной части центра города и до него легко добраться на машине, автобусе или трамвае.
