Good upper 2nd Class Honours degree or equivalent; IELTS 6.5 (with a score of at least 6.0 in each skill); or TOEFL with a score of 600 in the paper-based test or 250 in the computer-based test, for those whose 1st language is not English.

Research areas: temperate and tropical, marine and freshwater fish and shellfish culture; 5 main research groups: disease: control of significant infectious and non-infectious diseases in aquaculture; reproduction and genetics: including: molecular genetics of commercially important fish and shellfish species; cryopreservation of fish gametes; research on control of reproduction in fish species and on smoltification in salmon; environment: effect of environmental variables on aquatic ecosystems and effects of aquaculture on environment; ecotoxicology; nutrition: development of diets for aquaculture species through biochemistry; systems: development of sustainable aquaculture systems; resource management; use of remote sensing and coastal geographic information systems in aquaculture planning and management; system design and economic aspects of aquaculture production.
