Applicants with a degree in the subject they wish to teach will be enrolled onto the PGCE pathway, and applicants with only a level 3 qualification will be enrolled onto the Cert. Ed pathway; applicants must be teaching/training post 16 students for the duration of the programme; applicants must provide evidence of between 30-60 hours of teaching in the 1st year and 60-90 hours in the 2nd year, adding up to 120 hours; this can be full or part time employment but should be paid work not voluntary; students must provide a mentor at their college/institution who is prepared to assess their teaching on 2 occasions and who is prepared to do a short on-line training course (for which s/he will be awarded a certificate); the mentor must be an experienced, qualified teacher.
