Subjects studied are: nursing; health sciences; social sciences; these are introduced, developed and enhanced throughout the course to provide the knowledge and skills required to become a nurse; theory and practice are strongly correlated in the programmes; 50% of the programme consists of nursing practice; practice is achieved through simulated experience and placements in hospital and community; students who are taught at Dumfries attend Hamilton for some classes, travelling by bus; practice placement experience continues to be available in Lanarkshire and Dumfries and Galloway.
