Year 1: Introduces the broad subject of graphic design and the intellectual academic and process skills the course demands; it introduces subject areas including; idea generation; illustration; typography; promotional graphics; photography; computer applications; critical studies. Year 2: In the intermediate level of study learners might identify areas for specialisation or maintain a broad based approach; web and interactive design and professional practice modules are introduced in year 2; opportunities exist at this level for learners to engage in a period of work experience within a professional design related organisation; in the critical studies modules learners are prepared for their dissertation undertaken in year 3. Year 3: At the higher level of study there is a greater balance towards professional activity supported by the personal and professional development module; learners continue to shape their own creative identity both practically and intellectually in a range of in-depth projects.
