Guangzhou is home to a number of cultural institutions, the crown jewel being the Zaha Hadid designed Guangzhou Opera House in Zhujiang New Town. Provincial and Municipal museums and concert halls are scattered throughout the city, including:
Popular areas for nightlife in Guangzhou are Zhujiang New Town (the city’s financial district) and Taojin, a district that is home to a large expat population. Closer to the south campus, there are several bars geared toward student budgets located outside of the Small North Gate, including Perry’s, the perennial favorite watering hole for SYSU international students.
Zhuhai is also famous for its varied nightlife. For pubs, clubs, and live music venues, your best bet is a visit to the aptly named “Bar Street” (jiuba jie). Another popular choice is karaoke (KTV), which can be found in all the major commercial districts in the city.
The living community on Zhuhai Campus is divided into two departments: Li Yuan and Rong Yuan. Each dormitory room is a four-person room with separated bathroom and balcony. There are two internet access ports on campus.
Students have to pay the bills for water and electricity each month using your Campus Card. The hot water for bathing is providing from 6:30 to 23:30.
There is also the Activity Room in each dorm, where students can watch TV and play table tennis.
Students can also use their campus cards to eat at any of the universities cafeterias. There are also numerous affordable dining options nearby the SYSU’s gates, particularly the Main (South) Gate and the Small North Gate.
International students may choose to live off-campus, but they must register at the ISO by writing down the home address and telephone number. They must also register at the local police station and apply for the “Registration Certificate of Temporary Residence for Visitors” in accordance with the Chinese laws.
High employment rates and degrees of job satisfaction among alumni and numerous awards in national and international academic contests are indicators, which affirm SYSU’s role as a leading developer of talent in China.
