Academic indicators: GPA of at least 3.0
GRE general exam combined score (V+Q) > 300, with a verbal score of at least 150, a quantitative score of at least 150, and a written score of at least 3
GRE CS subject area exam is optional
Language indicators: TOEFL iBT score of at least 79, with a minimum of 16 on each of four component parts (reading, listening, speaking, writing)
or, IELTS score of at least 6.5 Prerequisite background: We welcome students into our program who have earned degrees in other disciplines; however, to be admitted to the program, we expect students to have roughly the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree in computer science. Specifically, we require prospective students to have demonstrated knowledge in the following areas: C, C++, or Java

The students within the department are quite involved professionally, as evidenced by active chapters of ACM, IEEE-CS, and UPE. The faculty is committed to a balanced program in both instruction and research, with the goal of achieving excellence in Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Parallel Computation, Computer Networks, Database, Operating Systems, Language Theory and Compilers, Human/Computer Interaction, Multimedia, E-commerce, and Hardware/Software Codesign, Information Assurance, Network Security, Wireless Engineering.
