Trainees spend the majority of their time (20 weeks) in their main school; 10 weeks are spent at the first school; 6 weeks are spent at the Bournemouth Learning Centre, divided between professional studies and subject pedagogy; the teaching programme in school is based on 2 placements; the 10-week placement in the first school begins with lesson observations and builds gradually to a maximum of 50% teaching commitment by Christmas; the Spring and Summer terms are spent in the main school, with a teaching commitment of around 60%.Successful completion of this course leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests.
