The 1st 2 years of the course allow students to develop core knowledge and understanding in areas of molecular biology, human biology, laboratory and investigative techniques, ecology and the legal and regulatory framework that governs the application of science to the world; the final year allows them to further specialise and choose units of particular interest, such as forensic science or the environment; developing laboratory skills is a strong component of the coursework; students develop a wide range of skills allowing them to pursue careers in areas such as biotechnology, occupational health and health promotion, environmental health and biomedical research.
