Education At level 1, the student studies 3 introductory modules, including 1 in learning difficulty; at levels 2 and 3 the student has a chance to study theoretical questions such as thinking and learning, or education in Europe and how to meet individual needs of pupils; the student has an opportunity to pursue their own particular interests through a choice of options or independent study; a substantial dissertation option at level 3 could give the student an opportunity to do a project relating to the other half of their award. Early childhood studies Contemporary study of early childhood invites a re-consideration of what it means to be a child, a parent, a carer and a human being; on the course the student asks some challenging and fascinating questions: what is play and what purpose does it serve? what kind of care ought children be entitled to? if children have rights, do they have responsibilities? what does social policy have to do with young children? at what age is it possible to identify children as having special educational needs? as well as asking these questions the student is expected to collect data on current provision for young children.

This is a joint Honours programme which enables the student to combine 2 subjects on an equal basis, giving the student a sound perspective on both subjects, with a good choice of option modules; the education course is concerned with the nature of the education system in England and Wales and also examines systems in other countries; the student studies the relationship between how and what we learn, as well as national and local provision and policy; early childhood studies considers and examines human development from ages 0-7 including major learning theories, the development and implementation of social policy and ways children are represented in different cultures; a significant theme is the debate around children’s rights.

Расположение

Город Бристоль находится в центре юго-восточной Англии и связан с остальными частями страны отличной системой транспортного и железнодорожного сообщения. Бристоль находится всего в 90 минутах езды от Лондона и в 15 минутах езды от соседнего города Бат, который является объектом всемирного культурного и исторического наследия.
