Education At level 1, the student studies 3 introductory modules, including 1 in learning difficulty; at levels 2 and 3 the student has a chance to study theoretical questions such as thinking and learning, or education in Europe and how to meet individual needs of pupils; the student has an opportunity to pursue their own particular interests through a choice of options or independent study; a substantial dissertation option at level 3 could give the student an opportunity to do a project relating to the other half of their award. English Year 1: The student takes the double-weighted English module, Approaches to Literature and Criticism (60 credits). Year 2: the student takes 2 30 credit modules, at least 1 of which must be: exploring the eighteenth century; literature and the Renaissance; Shakespeare and his contemporaries; and 1 from: American fiction: 1865-1939; British writing, 1900-1950; British fiction, 1830-1900; Victorian poetry. Year 3: the student takes 2 30 credit modules chosen from: English dissertation; children’s fantasy fiction since 1900; decadence and literature; fiction in Britain since 1970; the romantic period, 1789-1832; gender, sexuality, and writing; poetry and power; literature and culture in Britain, 1885-1915; contemporary American narrative; However, the student may only complete a Dissertation in one of their chosen subjects.

This is a joint Honours programme which enables the student to combine 2 subjects on an equal basis, giving the student a sound perspective on both subjects, with a good choice of option modules; the education course is concerned with the nature of the education system in England and Wales and also examines systems in other countries; the student studies the relationship between how and what we learn, as well as national and local provision and policy; the English course focuses on the Renaissance and the long nineteenth Century, and the twentieth Century.

Расположение
