The course has been planned and developed to meet the requirements of the standards and criteria for RCN accreditation of nurse practitioner programmes in higher education institutions. It has utilised the RCN Domains and Competencies for Nurse Practitioners (2007) to facilitate this process. The institution believes that nurse practitioners offer a unique service to clients and their families, operating at the boundaries between medicine and nursing. The course aims to equip these practitioners with advanced assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills to enable them to work as autonomous professionals.
