The course is composed of 6 modules which are taught mainly through practical workshops and also through lectures, seminars and tutorials; practical workshops allow students to learn new techniques, operate new technologies and to explore the ideas introduced in lectures and seminars; students choose either the performance or the media strand of the course and have the opportunity to encounter both in core modules; later in the course students finish with a public exhibition, a screening, a presentation or a performance; whatever format the work takes it is the result of a project that students have been involved in as a performer, presenter, director or designer; the course content is very broad and is designed to introduce students to the elements regarded as essential to Higher level study of the creative arts; these elements are: diagnostic and analytical; creative, technical and key skills; study skills; background knowledge.
