Students will undertake a programme of 15 Higher National Credits consisting of the following 6 mandatory units: visual communication, an introduction; digital imaging; art & design context; art & design project; creative industries – an introduction; visual communication: graded unit; plus 9 credits drawn from the following subject areas: graphic design; illustration; new media; animation; desktop publishing; life drawing; photography; portfolio production; printmaking.

This course is strongly underpinned by fine art disciplines such as painting and drawing while embracing contemporary ideas and practices with the inclusion of new computer-based processes; while the majority of subjects aim to develop and enhance the student’s creative and expressive abilities; there is opportunity to experiment with a range of new; digital methods of art and image-making; the programme is specifically intended to provide students with the opportunity to produce a high quality portfolio of artwork to support applications for higher-level studies at art schools and colleges.
