Year 1: At level one students become familiar with the basic tools of media production; including media technologies and researching for media production; as an integral part of the course, students also begin to explore the theories of media production through the study of communication techniques and textual analysis; key concepts in communication, media and culture; media practice; researching for media production; convergent media; broadcast media; professional development planning 1; Add+vantage 1. Year 2: Level two sees students expanding their creative and critical thinking and specialising within either a practice or production route; also have the option of undertaking a work placement within the professional experience module; genre, meaning and production; professional experience; professional development planning 2; Add+vantage 2; plus optional modules. Year 3: the final level of the course sees students undertaking a major project in which they research, develop and produce a critically informed and substantial media product in the medium of their choice; alongside this project, students continue to develop their knowledge and skills from level two within media forms; context and analysis; genre, meaning and production 2; research and development; media production; professional development planning 3; Add+vantage 3.
