Programme of studies to develop knowledge and understanding of concepts of health and ill health; basic and applied science; principles of treatment; treatment techniques; professional skills and research; modular in structure, with alternate periods of study in the University and fieldwork setting; fieldwork education modules are arranged to provide experience in differing settings and to ensure each student has the opportunity to work with individuals suffering from physical and/or psychological difficulties or disabilities; in the 1st year, students study the core concepts within the occupational therapy profession, such as being client centered, holistic, promoting empowerment and enablement and the importance and benefits of occupation in the widest sense of the word; students also study anatomy, physiology and psychology and basic research methods; in years 2 and 3 in addition to the mandatory modules, there is the opportunity to choose optional modules in areas of special interest.
