The aim of the course is to enable individuals who work in the public sector to implement and communicate information assurance requirements to senior managers by using concepts and language that are understood in business terms; this necessitates sound technical understanding overlaid with an appreciation of the drivers and constraints within the business, and the knowledge to ensure the gap between the 2 can be bridged by the use of management tools, techniques and strategies; the course is supported by the Central Sponsor for Information Assurance and is aligned with the UK Government’s own certification scheme for professionals in this area; the subject matter is based on the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA – a not-for-profit body jointly owned by BCS, IEE, IMIS and e-skillsUK); the course is suitable for those working in the public sector who wish to understand the discipline of information assurance as part of business management; the course offers 3 paths of business management, resilience and forensic computing to allow students to explore the area appropriate to their career aspirations in greater depth; all pathways follow a common PgCert syllabus and thereafter specialise.
