High school graduate. SAT and two SAT Subject Tests or ACT with Writing. We dont have minimun scores for SAT or ACT. Median scores of accepted students: SAT Verbal/Critical Reading: 680-790; SAT Math: 700-800; SAT Writing:700-790; ACT Composite: 31-35. We recommend but do not require the TOEFL or the IELTS. A minimum score of 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT)—or 250 on the computer-based TOEFL (CBT) or 600 on the paper-based TOEFL (PBT) is expected for all applicants to Duke. While not required for admission, interviews provide an opportunity for the applicant to learn about Duke and for a representative of the university to learn about the applicant's strengths. We have alumni volunteers conducting interviews in forty-two countries worldwide.
Students majoring in Brazilian and Global Portuguese Studies will acquire competency in spoken and written Portuguese, as well as familiarity with the literature and culture of Brazil and Portugese-speaking regions. Lusophone countries--those who speak Portuguese as the official language--include Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, and the Chinese Special Administrative Region of Macau.
