PGCE: Year 1: section 1 topics: classroom management; national curriculum/law and the teacher; adolescence, maturation, how people learn; language and learning: across the curriculum; teaching and assessing; pastoral care; child protection; section 2: equal opportunities; multicultural and anti-racist education; special needs; pathways post 14; pupils moral and spiritual welfare; education for citizenship; education for enterprise; serial and block placements; MA: year 2: evaluating educational research; year 3: dissertation or alternative rout to MA: year 2: education research in action: year 2/3: option module; year 3: supervised independent study.

Вступительные требования

PGCE: 2:1 degree; demonstrate the relevance of the degree in terms of the primary curriculum; GCSE mathematics English and science to grade C level or above; expected to have had recent experience (i.e. within the last 3 years) of working with secondary aged children, in a mainstream school context; offer conditional on a medical and Police check; all CRB Enhanced disclosures for our students must be processed by Durham University; MA: students must complete the PGCE to gain entry onto the MA; constitutes an extra 2 years part time study.

Расположение

Кампусы Университета располагаются в двух городах: в городе Дарем (основной кампус) и в городе Стоктон-он-Тис (кампус Queen’s). Оба города имеют отличное транспортное сообщение с остальными северо-восточными регионами Англии.

Оба студенческих городка находятся в 2 часах 45 минутах езды от Лондона. Недалеко от кампусов есть два аэропорта - международный аэропорт Newcastle и аэропорт Durham Tees Valley.

До всех социальных и культурных учреждений легко добраться пешком из обоих кампусов.
