A lower 2nd class Honours degree in a health or social care related subject; students also need to demonstrate prior knowledge of CBT, through previous attendance at workshops, lectures or courses in CBT; must have access to a clinical supervisor for therapy work who is accredited or accreditable with BABCP; applicants without above qualifications must demonstrate knowledge and skills at a level equivalent to that of degree study prior to commencing the programme.

The course is based around the components of the Cognitive Therapy Scale and clinical supervision sessions; the knowledge gained will allow students to: Develop a conceptual understanding of CBT and its application to clinical practice; acquire specific knowledge in CBT to assess, formulate, treat and evaluate a variety of psychological pathologies from evidence based practice; critically appraise the evidence base that supports the use of cognitive behavioural methods for a range of psychological/psychiatric disorders; appraise the legal, moral and ethical obstacles associated with practice of CBT and the paradigm of therapeutic alliance.
