2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant discipline; applicants with degrees in other disciplines, or other relevant qualifications and work experience are considered; portfolio of personal work and written proposal should be submitted with the application; in case of EU or overseas applicants this may be in form of high quality slides or photographs of applicant's work.

Students are encouraged to take an unconventional and personal approach to subject matter, selecting from a range of techniques offered which include: Woodcuts; wood engraving and linocut; engraving; drypoint; mezzotint; etching; aquatint and sugarlift; lithography and silkscreen; traditional skills (e.g. papermaking) are taught alongside photographic hybrid techniques and computer technology; each student follows a personal programme devised through consultation between student and staff; through exploration and testing of individual ideas and practice, students work towards the creation of a body of work for exhibition and assessment.
