Research students are offered a core support course to train them in basic research skills and methodologies; many projects in architecture and landscape architecture relate directly to public policy and professional practice in both advanced and developing countries; includes history of the discipline and development of a theoretical basis for practice; current research takes account of cultural diversity; perception of landscape and space; exploitation of new ways to enhance access and minimise barriers; development of innovative design practices.
