The Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) offers a way to train as a teacher while the student is based in a school; at the end of the training period, successful students are awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); the training is tailored to suit individual needs; trainees need to be highly motivated individuals who are able to take responsibility for their own learning and the training requires a high level of independent study in addition to work carried out in school.
