A range of modern and contemporary fine art practices are considered including: Video; performance; and installation art; plus an array of sonic arts and experiments; and the rhetorics of recording practices; offers a series of approaches to cinema, to the idea of the voice and to musical performance.

Upper 2nd class honours or equivalent degree in the history of art; architecture and design; fine art; film studies; cultural studies; or a related humanities or arts subject; students with degrees in music or related subjects are welcome.

The course addresses the significance of sound in the fine arts practices, urban cultures and built environments of the past 60 years; interested in moments where the aural intersects with visual and spatial domains, the programme engages with a rich seam of new critical possibilities and art practices; the identification of new objects and cultural formations; and new margins and horizons of aural-visual and aural-spatial concern.
