A degree at 2.1 level (or its equivalent international qualification) in an arts or humanities subject; applicants must demonstrate in written application and in interview that there is capacity for theoretical and analytical work and can meet intellectual demands of the programme; experience in drama, performance and theatre studies at undergraduate level is desirable; if 1st language is not English minimum score of 7.0 in IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or equivalent required.

Allows students scope for creative yet rigorous and critical thinking combined with cumulative knowledge of drama, performance and theatre in Africa; the course will equip students with the analytical tools to enhance critical engagement with and understanding of the various performance practices and traditions in Africa; the course also aims to encourage and foster independent research, carried out through the scholarly channels of books and visual archives, as well as through access to practice.
