1st Class or upper 2nd Class Honours degree in music, or an equivalent qualification which should comprise a substantial practical/creative element relevant to the selected MMus pathway and option choices; applications from people without formal qualifications who can demonstrate equivalent professional experience are encouraged, in which case applicants may be asked to provide additional examples of your written work; particular pathways may have additional entrance requirements.

This programme offers a variety of practice-based opportunities, which may be combined with a range of academic modules as appropriate; it is designed with careful consideration of the opportunities, challenges and intellectual demands presented by careers in music and the creative industries in general, such as professional performance, composition, film/television composition, sound design, teaching, broadcasting and arts administration; the specialism should be closely allied to the specific programme outcomes of the pathway and its core modules, and agreed with the relevant pathway coordinator; students receive advice from the department at interview and/or enrolment about their choices.
