Course content includes: game play, genre and relationship to previous forms, interaction, screen design and conventions, narrative development, characterisation, level design, and their integration within the context of a non-linear game environment; students will work towards producing working/complete games, and on games concepts for other platforms.

The course focuses on designing for computer games, which are the most visible of the modes of representation to involve what is known as ’interactivity’, representing a convergence in both communications and entertainment media; emphasis is placed on the design, rather than the technology, of computer games, exploring the notion of play in interactive digital media on all platforms within a conceptual framework called gaming; the course is delivered through studio based, student-centred, teaching and learning.
