Applicants should have an excellent academic background and have (or expect to have) a Master's degree, with averages at distinction level, in a course containing a significant proportion of finance. Before applying to the programme, applicants should have a clear understanding of their intended research topic. A mandatory part of the application process is a detailed research proposal.

The Centre would like to receive proposals in various areas of finance, including: Asset pricing; corporate governance; credit risk; equity and futures markets; football finance; financial econometrics; hedge funds; hedging strategies; high frequency econometrics; historical finance; Islamic finance; market microstructure; option pricing and hedging; pension schemes; portfolio management and performance assessment; quantitative finance; real estate finance and options; volatility analysis and models.
