The course covers planning for effective teaching and learning, aspects of inclusion, differentiation, assessment, cross-curricular ideas, mathematical language and misconceptions, record keeping and reporting; students’ personal subject mentor in placement schools help with planning effective lessons, managing classes taking account of differing student needs, classroom organisation and assessment for learning and for planning; peer support from fellow associate teachers is encouraged by the subject providers with group discussion at the start of subject study; the course leads to recommendation for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
