The course offers highly practical and intensive training to extend and develop performance skills; specific contemporary techniques are studied alongside a traditional classical ballet approach; choreography is used to expand creative thinking and a variety of new digital media is available to support students own choreographic work; critical thinking and analysis is developed through lectures and seminars and the history of dance in western cultures is crucial to understanding dance as a genre; an emphasis is placed on vocational training and the skills required to enter the professional world of the performing arts; students have the opportunity to undertake a work placement as well as examining the theories and practice of specific dance roles; the course aims to enhance and develop students technical dance ability and choreographic skills within an employment friendly framework; students gain knowledge of theoretical concepts using new media within the field of dance.
