Department of Theology and Religious Studies modules (all 15 credits): contemporary philosophical theology; gender and Islam in the Middle East; Muslim communities in the West; Islamic mysticism; advanced New Testament texts in Greek; the doctrine of creation; salvation and personhood; Christianity in the North Atlantic world, 1668-1830; law and Jewish philosophy; contemporary Jewish philosophy; the ethics of homicide; English reformations c1485-c1600; theories of religion; tolerance, liberty and religion; religion and the enlightenment; theological themes in the New Testament 1 and 2; in search of the early Christians; theological themes in the Old Testament; independent study project.

The War Studies elements provide students with a sophisticated understanding of war, both as a subject worthy of study and as an intellectual preparation for the widest possible range of career choices; these skills include the ability to handle a wide range of evidence, analyse complex issues and present conclusions in a clear and effective manner.The Theology and Religious Studies elements of the programme consider doctrinal, cultural and historical aspects of the Christian, Islamic and Jewish traditions; options are also available in the philosophy of religion, the anthropology of religion and the sociology of religion.
