Core module: formations of film studies; Optional modules include: media aesthetics; thinking cinema with Emmanuel Levinas: theory; philosophy; ethics; music and film; heritage cinemas: genre and representation in the contemporary period; cinema and the city; art cinema; exploitation cinema; French cinema: history; ideology; aesthetics; post-war and contemporary British cinema; London film cultures. Additional options may be available from other humanities departments at king's and you may also be able to select one module from associated graduate film programmes at Birkbeck college; Goldsmiths college; university college; Queen Mary; Royal Holloway and SOAS.

Minimum 2.1 first degree or overseas equivalent: a degree in film studies or a subject (in which film/media plays a significant part) is an advantage; although candidates from other disciplines will be considered; whilst evidence of appropriate experience will be required for those returning to study .

Focus is on cutting-edge ideas and developments in film culture; ranges across European; American and World cinema from highbrow to lowbrow; the signature medium of the twentieth century: aesthetically; socially; technologically and economically; and at the turn of a new century: television; video; and the digital arts are challenging cinema to adapt and find new forms of representation and communication; with such developments come new ideas and new ways of understanding both the present and the past; which challenge one to comprehend how stories are told through moving images and how cinematic and televisual forms have shaped and are changing our understanding of culture and society. You will take a core module Formations in Film Studies: an Advanced Introduction to the Field and choose four other modules, plus a dissertation.

Расположение

University of London, структурным подразделением которого является King’s College, находится в самом центре Лондона. Университету принадлежат четыре кампуса с видом на реку. Все они находятся в одном квартале, примерно в 1.5 км от центра Лондона. Кампусы Strand, Waterloo, Guy и Denmark Hill (находящийся чуть южнее) располагаются по обе стороны реки Темзы. История колледжа тесно связана с четырьмя известными медицинскими центрами: Guy's and St Thomas’, King’s College, South London и Maudsley.

Кафедры лондонского отделения факультета расположены в кампусах Strand и Waterloo. Большая часть зданий находится в кампусе Strand на берегу реки Темзы.
