Mandatory units: Safety, health and environmental requirements in the workplace: safety aspects involved in the construction industry, producing health and safety signs, carrying out site surveys, replacing damaged signs; effective working relationships: learning how to work as part of a team, carrying out joint projects or discussions and understanding procedures; provide information and advice about signs: obtaining and recording information about a sign project (research), dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues, producing a report in response to a brief; types of signs and materials used; quality assurance: checking for conformities in the sign product and materials, taking actions to rectify if necessary, how quality can be improved; preparing for sign operations: preparation of the area or project including the health and safety aspects; choosing the appropriate materials for that job; finish and complete a sign operation – producing a sign in response to a brief; optional units: hand decorate signs – the traditional method of sign making involving painting onto signs; apply self adhesive materials: design or production and application of vinyl graphics; produce graphical images – using personal computer skills to for graphic design of signs
