The requirements for the International Studies programme are an equivalent of a Dutch pre-university education (VWO) diploma, and proficiency in English.
A first-year or final diploma from a university programme.
A diploma obtained outside the Netherlands, an International Baccalaureate (IB), or a European Baccalaureate (EB). Russian Federation:
- Attectat o Srednem (polnom) Obshchem Obrazovanii with a score of 5 in all subjects.
If you obtained your diploma in previous years you are requested to submit your Certificate of Unified State Examination results too. Leiden University accepts three kinds of official tests:
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic modules only. Minimum score of 6.5.
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum scores is 90 (internet based). Original test results should be sent directly by the Educational Testing Service. Institutional TOEFL tests are not accepted;
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English/ Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (grade A-C)

In the English-taught bachelor’s programme in International Studies you will study the history, culture, politics and economy of a world region, and you will learn one of the region’s languages. You will be able to put world events in perspective by comparing regions in their worldwide context.
You will study International Studies at the Faculty of Humanities of Leiden University, one of the leading humanities faculties in continental Europe. International Studies is located in The Hague: international city of peace and justice.
