A bachelor’s degree from a university, equivalent to the level of a Dutch academic bachelor’s degree, in art history, culture studies, visual anthropology, media studies or a similar discipline
Knowledge, understanding and skills in analysis of film, photography and/or video comparable with those acquired upon completing the bachelor’s programme Film and Literary Studies from Leiden University with a specialisation in Film Studies
Skills in the use library information systems
Sufficient command of English (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 100 (internet-based) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE); for the ‘writing’ and ‘reading’ components a minimum score of IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL25 is required).

Film and Photographic Studies, a specialisation of Leiden University Master’s in Media Studies, is your chance to choose a challenging academic study in the field of ‘lens-based’ media, comprising photography, film and video. Combine history and theory of film and photography within the broad context of visual and other media. You will gain expertise on the three media and their specific nature, as well as their relation to one another.
