Year 1: Modules are: Primary English 1; beginning mathematics education; introduction to foundation studies; beginning professional studies; foundation core science; the student undertakes a Key stage 1 placement of 4 weeks. Year 2: modules are: primary English 2; developing mathematics education; developing foundation studies; developing professional studies; developing core science; the student undertakes a Key stage 2 placement of 5 weeks. Years 3 and 4: modules are: primary English 3; extending mathematics education; pedagogy and the core curriculum; advanced professional studies; advanced core science; school-based research study; early years studies; in year 3 the student undertakes a 9 week placement in the Foundation Stage; in year 4 the student undertakes a 12 week placement in Key Stage 1.

To ensure that the student is fully prepared for a career in primary teaching this programme offers: a strong and equal emphasis on the core-curriculum; foundation studies in music, geography, art, physical education and covered thematically; a module in modern foreign languages; year long modules in professional studies; 2nd and 4th year specialist modules in early years; a 4th year research module; module assessments linked to specific school-based tasks; the student is trained by not only the university tutors but, most importantly, by the teachers that the student works with in schools; whilst on placement the student is supervised by a mentor from within the school; a liaison tutor from the University also visits to support and carry out observations; successful completion of this course confers eligibility for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Расположение

LJMU – процветающий, оживленный университет, расположенный в центре города Ливерпуль. Университету принадлежат три кампуса: кампусы City и Mount Pleasant, расположенные в центре Ливерпуля и кампус IM Marsh, расположенный приблизительно в 6,4 км (4 милях) к югу от центра города. В городе Ливерпуль хорошо развита система общественного транспорта (паромы, такси, автобусы и метро). По территории LJMU курсирует бесплатный маршрутный автобус, на котором можно перемещаться между корпусам Университета.
